Same-Sex Marriage Debate Fills State House Rotunda
Proponents, Opponents Rally Peacefully

PROVIDENCE -- Opponents and supporters of same-sex marriage stood side by side in the rotunda of the Rhode Island State House on Tuesday, holding signs advocating their respective positions. The rally was intended to support a bill to ban same-sex marriage, but many of those who attended were actually supporters of same-sex marriage who appeared to oppose the measure. News Channel 10's Bill Rappleye reported that the rally was relatively peaceful and did not mimic some of the contentious exchanges seen on Beacon Hill in recent weeks.
