Plan to stop adoptions by gay couples aired

Republican lawmakers said Monday they will seek to make it clear in state law that gay couples can't adopt Oklahoma children. "We ought to protect Oklahoma children from adoption by homosexual couples," said Rep. Thad Balkman, R-Norman. Balkman said GOP House members are seeking to identify legislation that can be amended to include a prohibition against adoptions of state children by out-of-state same-sex couples.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Benton County commissioners voted Monday to postpone issuing marriage licenses to everyone — not just same-sex couples — until a court decision is made on whether gay marriages in Oregon are legal.

WASHINGTON -- Connecticut's congressional delegation is in lock step in opposition to an amendment banning gay marriage, and lawmakers said states should be allowed to make their own decisions on civil unions.
