KEY WEST, Fla. -- In a city that has long prided itself on its tolerance, it should be no surprise that support for same-sex marriage goes right to the top of local government.
Accordingly, Key West Mayor Jimmy Weekley and City Commissioner Tom Oosterhoudt plan to introduce resolutions at a Tuesday commission meeting calling for the city to formally support gay marriage. At the same time, supporters are launching a “White Ribbon Equality Campaign”, calling on proponents of the same-sex measure to where white ribbons to show their support.
