Elected Officials, Clergy and Activists to Hold Los Angeles Event
Los Angeles -- African American leaders in Los Angeles will step onto the battleground over same-sex marriage Thursday, March 18, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the historic Leimert Park, located at the intersections of Crenshaw Boulevard and Vernon Avenue with a dramatic press conference and rally. The rally, organized by the National Black Justice Coalition, will bring together African American activists, politicians and religious leaders to challenge Los Angeles Mayor James Hahn to publicly and formally oppose the federal marriage amendment and oppose any effort by California state attorney general Bill Lockyear to outlaw same sex marriages

Boston, March 11, 2004 - The "Coalition for Marriage" - comprised of 15 national and local Massachusetts groups - is leading efforts to deny same-sex couples equal marriage rights in Massachusetts. These groups portray themselves as representing mainstream, respectable American "family values." The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Policy Institute report, "Anti-Gay Groups Active in Massachusetts: A Closer Look" exposes that myth.
