Gay.com U.K.

"Brokeback Mountain" will not be seen by moviegoers in the United Arab Emirates, after the country's government banned the film.

This is just, AH!, it is just such fucked up news!

There is now doubt that I have never seen a film that really shows the suffering of men the way BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN does.

I had no intention of seeing it, not wanting to trigger memories of violence from my past, but friends insisted I GO! And I'm so glad!

Even though I had a splitting headache from crying MORE THAN I've ever cried at a movie, this was an experience that I'm better for having inside me.

Every single person should see it.

Men suffering for Love is not something we see very often, but it's there, in every man at some point in his life. That HARD shelter is no shelter, as every man has feelings. EVEN men who would BAN THIS FILM, EVEN men who would make jokes about this film. The jokes will change nothing, but the film does, and will change you too if you see it.

Am I being dramatic? Is it just because of my own life experience that I go on like this? No, I really don't think so, I truly believe that all people can see this and have a bigger world view upon walking out of the theater.

Thanks for posting this kari, and very much looking forward to your reading in Philly on March 19th with Brenda Iijima and Rachel Blau DuPlessis! It'll be GREAT!

With Love to CHANGE DARKNESS!
