Bill protects people from discrimination for gender expression
By Ross Sneyd, Associated Press Writer

MONTPELIER, Vt. --Vermont would become the eighth state in the nation to protect people from discrimination based on their gender expression under a bill due for debate in the House this week.

The bill would amend the state's anti-discrimination statute to add "gender identity or expression" to the list of characteristics that may not be used to deny someone housing, a job or some other public accommodation.
