Hundreds in Oshkosh rally to oppose amendment banning gay marriage
Associated Press
OSHKOSH, Wis. - Hundreds of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and others gathered Sunday for a rally to oppose a state constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriages and civil unions.

"We need support for our family as much as ay other family," said Becky Bauer, who along with Mary Jean Shimelz want the same support and benefits for themselves and their 18-month old daughter, Olivia, as any other married couple.

"I can't leave her my inheritance because we're not married."

The rally was sponsored by Queers on the Water, a local support group for gays and lesbians.
