(Sacramento, California) The California Assembly has passed a sweeping bill that unifies non-discrimination provisions in dozens of state labor laws.

The legislation will make all state labor law consistent with the Fair Employment and Housing Act, one of the toughest anti-discrimination laws in the county in providing fair working conditions for LGBT employees.

“At a time when many states are enacting legislation that affirmatively discriminates against lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender individuals, California continues to lead the country in enacting legislation banning discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals from discrimination” Geoffrey Kors, Executive Director of Equality California, told 365Gay.com.

“This legislation ensures that California workers and employers have one standard—the Fair Employment and Housing Act—by which to judge discrimination and that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender are included in that standard.”
