Supporters of gay marriage deliver petitions to Wash. state senators
By ARTURO SANTIAGO / KING 5 News

SEATTLE - Seattle-area supporters of gay marriage want to make sure their message was heard in the senate, so on Monday they marched straight into Washington state senators' local offices.

Even though senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell have indicated that they're against a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, three organizations wanted to make sure they knew how many people in the state were on the same page.

About 4,000 signatures from Washington state residents were delivered, each one urged the state's two senators to vote against the federal marriage amendment.

A representative from Sen. Patty Murray's office accepted the petitions and read from a statement released by Murray
