Sexuality discrimination lawsuit filed over former Columbia Foot Locker employee

(Columbia-AP) June 29, 2004 - A New York-based legal advocacy group for gays and lesbians has sued Foot Locker on behalf of a former employee who says he was harassed by supervisors and co-workers.

Attorneys with Lambda Legal say 26-year-old Kevin Dunbar was harassed and eventually fired from his job at a Foot Locker store because he is gay. Attorney Greg Nevins of Lambda Legal says Foot Locker did not follow its own policy that promises a harassment-free workplace.

A spokesman for Foot Locker would not comment on the lawsuit but says Foot Locker does have a policy against discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Dunbar worked for Foot Locker stores in three Columbia malls from May to August 2002.
