Same-sex-marriage issue dominates Democrats' debate

After more than 30 debates, the Democratic presidential candidates were forced off message for the first time in Thursday night's showdown in Los Angeles.
The issues that brought the four remaining candidates this far – jobs, trade, health care, the war in Iraq – were pushed momentarily to the back burner. Instead, for too much of the debate, the candidates were forced to grapple – very uncomfortably – with the issue of same-sex marriage.
